Activities

Japanese language volunteers are currently conducting activities every Wednesday at the Kawasaki Civic Activity Center. People of varying ages, nationalities, and occupations participate. We aim to meet for activities 30〜35 times per year.

Our main activity is to communicate in Japanese while talking about topics like news and current affairs brought by members.

The contents of the conversation vary, from small talk and stories about various countries to topics of personal interest. The topics can be spontaneous. The contents of the conversations are not decided.

During activities, we sometimes use whiteboards and/or Japanese booklets. In order to talk face-to-face and with as free a subject as possible, we do not use a textbook. Rather than teacher-student relationships, we value connecting as friends--regardless of nationality.

The topics of conversation are naturally wide-ranging, creating an environment in which opinions can be freely exchanged. Both Japanese people and foreigners can learn about the conditions of each other's countries, expanding their knowledge of one another.

The atmosphere is very warm, and participation in the conversation is not forced.
